Charlie 11 months old

Thu., Oct 19

Charlie turned 11 months yesterday, and has been free-standing like CRAZY these past few days.  She so excited about it she can't sleep at night.  We kept giving her Tylenol since we weren't sure why she kept waking up, but the woman at the day care said "she's just excited and processing the new things that are going on in her life".  We actually could ONLY get her to sleep on our bed the other night, so she spent the whole night with us, which sort of sucked, but it's good to understand WHY it's happening.

Last night she stood up, and I clapped and said "yay", and then she stood up and clapped.  She got up to 7 claps while standing before falling over.  It was VERY cute.  She's also talking a bit.  A couple of days ago she was playing with magnets on the fridge and Max was having a hard time.  Charlie found the car magnet, since she knows Max likes cars, and said "Car.  Max.  For You".  I'm not sure how many people would have understood all those words, but to Christine and I it's pretty clear.  She's also getting great at saying Thank You.  The other night some of Christine's family was over for diner, and Charlie wanted to sit in a laundry basket.  She grunted to let us know she wanted to get in, and when Christine put her in Charlie said "Thank you" clearly enough that everyone at the table understood it.

Her other trick that she's done twice for me is she goes to the gate and gets a little fussy.  That means she wants to go down and get her diaper changed.  She's done this three times for me and 2 of those times her diaper REALLY needed changing, and once I think she was just going for attention.  :)

She's also exploring gravity a bit.  It's really fun to watch her because she drops things on the ground, and then she looks to see if it really did fall to the ground.  She loves stacking and unstacking things, and is getting good about putting things in boxes (we call it clean up, which is good to learn early).

Max is starting to really love playing with Charlie too.  I've caught him saying things like "You can't have that sweetie, that's a not for babies.  Let me get you something you can play with."
