First Love

Thu., Nov 16

This Halloween we went out with a few of Max's friends around town to trick-or-treat.  All the local businesses open their doors and shovel out candy from 3-6, and while it's to early for the "serious" trick or treaters, it's perfect for kids under 5.

For the past couple of years we've gone through town, and then when the kids start to melt-down we go to Max's favorite restaurant (Thai Garden).  After we got home in bed I was tucking Max in and he said to me:

   "I don't like Ava.".

I told him that wasn't a nice thing to say, and asked him why he said that.  He replied:

"Because at the restaurant, I wanted to sit next to Ava, and I had to sit next to Daisy and Ava."

Apparently the fact that Daisy sat between Ava and Max was the cause of his dislike.  I kept a straight face until I got out of the room and then instantly told Christine all about it.  Five minutes later Christine went by his room, and Max continued his conversation as if he'd been talking to Christine all along:

"And another thing mommy?  When we were at the restaurant Ava looked at me."

Of course when you see Ava it's not hard to see why he has a little crush on her... :)
